Holiday travelers hit the road

December 17th, 2007, 4:55 pm · Post a Comment · posted by phoskins

snowflakes.jpgApproximately 65.2 million Americans will travel 50 miles or more from home during this Christmas and New Year holiday period, a 0.7 percent increase from last year’s 64.7 million travelers, according to AAA. The majority of those travelers — approximately 53 million — expect to drive.

With so many holiday travelers hitting the road this holiday season, AAA reminds motorists to drive safely and remember to slow down or move over when they see emergency vehicles along the roadside. It’s the law in Colorado and many other states.

Holiday travelers this year should expect significantly higher gas prices than last year. To help you know how much you’ll have to spend, try www.fuelcostcalculator.com. And use AAA’s Fuel Price Finder, to locate more than 100,000 gas stations across the country and find the cheapest fuel along your travel route.

As always, be prepared for winter driving and emergencies, be safe, buckle up and drive sober.
