Missing out

jeepconcept.jpgIf you’re like me, you’re probably not going to get to go to the 2008 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week. (The press previews started this week. Which is why you’re already seeing stories about the show.) I keep telling myself not to despair. After all, Detroit’s weather isn’t any better than Colorado’s. And it’s not a really pretty place to visit. But it’s the Auto Show, loaded with crazy concept vehicles that represent the future of the automotive industry, like the Jeep Renegade Concept. It has an advanced propulsion system that starts with a 40-mile lithium-ion battery pack. Then there’s Mazda’s super performance Furai, a concept car based on an American Le Mans Series race car. The bad news is we’re sitting here, missing out on getting close to these cool cars. The good news is, we can check out videos, news stories and photos of them here. It looks like there are lots of green-themed cars, including ones that are electric or run on E85. Still, it looks like it will be awhile before we’re all driving flying cars.
